Hand Therapist is a typical example of non-regulated profession, in which magicians cohabit with shameless charlatans, in a total lack of transparency.

In the US, a private certification has been established in the early 90’s, for which a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) is an occupational therapist or physical therapist who has a minimum of five years of clinical experience, including 4,000 hours or more in direct practice in hand therapy.

But nothing similar exists in Europe, and the certification process is not remotely available.

The project idea is to develop and test an EU Hand Therapist competence certification scheme based on prerequisites and competence criteria.

For this project, EFCoCert is looking for partners with the following profiles:

  • Hand Therapists
  • International hand therapists professional association or federation
  • Open badge recognition specialists
  • Personal certification bodies
  • Project coordinator
